An email marketing platform that sucks you in with its catching branding... and keeps you around with its powerful tool.

What is Mailchimp?

Mailchimp is an email marketing platform that makes creating, sending and analyzing your email campaigns attainable for non-technical users. For the advanced users, they have powerful customizations and integrations that are integral for mature email marketing.

Why we use Mailchimp

Honestly, after having used Mailchimp for nearly a decade, we don't often look at other email marketing platforms. There are a few top dogs in the email game, and Mailchimp definitely deserves a spot on that short list. We know a few email enthusiasts whose whole world is email (looking at you Mailcharts) β€” but unless you have really niche needs, Mailchimp is probably a great option.

Our take on Mailchimp

Mailchimp is a low friction way to get your email marketing up and running. For 90% of small business, Mailchimp will work great. They are a great company with a solid tool.

My two qualms with Mailchimp:

  1. The tool can be a little cumbersome and have a bit of a learning curve. To be fair, they pack a lot of features into their software... but it can be easy to turned around and confused inside the tool.
  2. The template engine in Mailchimp can be a little limiting. If you need emails with a unique design, it might not be possible in Mailchimp. Luckily 95% of emails aren't super unique, so you probably won't run into this issue β€” but set your expectations accordingly.
